The flag was depicted as such in Alfred Znamierowski's [zna99]. The WPE is an active political party, however, it renounced Marxism in 1990. Originally, it was the only legal political party under the Mengistu regime.

Would this mean that the red flag was possibly also dropped in 1990? There are no reports (here) of this flag use since.
